FWH was established in 1979 in Caton, after Frank had gained his knowledge of construction by working for local companies and contractors. He then bought his first excavator and entered into the world of plant hire.

In 1986 he moved to Over Kellet, which he felt was the ideal location, to provide the services of the company to a wider market.

As time progressed he was able to employ staff and purchase more equipment which enabled the company to expand, not only commercially but into other related works - civil and local authority projects, landscape and garden work, etc.

In 1994, and with much more paperwork to take care of, Frank’s wife, Susan became a partner in the business. Having had a background in secretarial and office related work she became responsible for the administration side of the business.

Frank's Stepson (and Susan's Son), Jonah became a partner in 2004. He is well suited to all aspects of the company as he has worked within the plant hire, construction and landscaping industry for many years, previous to accepting this position.

After gaining a distinction in her National Certificate in The Management of Horses, NCMH, BHS (British Horse Society) Stage 3, Preliminary Teaching Test (PTT) and British Horse Society Assistant Instructor (BHSAI), Franks Stepdaughter (and Susan's daughter) Samantha has consistently worked within the horse industry.  She is now the Manager of our Sister company, Swarthdale Equestrian.

So we really are a 'family run' business!
