Groundwork Details

Heysham
The project was carried out for a large chemical production company who we have worked for on many varied projects. This project was to construct the base for a smoking area shelter and the foundations and floor slab for a cold store extension. The extension involved excavation, piling, groundbeam, drainage and concreting work. All the work carried out on this site must comply with stringent safety regulations due to the native of the product being produced.
United Utilities
This job involved the construction of a storage tank base. Due to the design of the tank we needed to manufacture a suspended circular shutter so the concrete could be poured in the same day. This was done in order to ensure the base would be watertight. This is just one of the small civil works that we have completed for United Utilities over many years.
Carnforth
This project has been done in several phases' over the last few years. The main job was the concreting of a large coach park which has a heavy flow of vehicles using it. Before the concreting could be done we first had to install several drainage systems. A top water system was installed which included a number of gully pots all linked to an interceptor tank. A smaller interceptor system was also installed next to their diesel pumps. We also put a recycling plant which links to the automated coach wash which we also constructed the base for. A toilet drop system for the coaches was also installed. Once this work was completed we could then start the concreting work of which the small phase is presently being completed.
Lancaster
This project was carried out on the grounds of a local college (St Martin's) and involved the excavation of a level area, a retaining wall being built and the installation of a number of concrete flags. The position and elevation of the flags was critical due to them being used to support several jack leg cabins. We also installed ductwork for electric cables into these temporary classrooms. We have completed many different projects for this client over the last several years,
Pressall
This project (carried out for Barton Park Home's) involved practically every aspect of creating three brand new developments on an existing park home site. We completed all the drainage, BT and electrical system, forming of the roadways, concreting the bases for the homes, laying flag paths and block paved drive's and finally turfing. This large-scale project was very rewarding as we took three green field sites and transformed them into finished park home developments.
Wray
This project was to create a silage storage area next to the original farmyard area. We first had to excavate the area and construct the bankings which form the walls. We then formed the concrete base with a small amount of fall to the front of the area. A channel was also cast into the concrete, to divert any water away from the yard area. We have constructed a number of facilities similar to this over many years.
Staveley and Over Kellet
These two jobs show some aspects of work that we have completed for local equestrian facilities. One shows an area which we first excavated, prepared and then concreted to be used as a base for a stable block. The other job shows an all weather outdoor ménage we constructed. This job involved firstly excavating the area out of a natural banking. We then installed a drainage system enabling all-year round usage. We then put a layer of hardcore material down creating a good solid base. The photos show the area waiting for the final surface layer.
